Dear CSBA community,
It’s with a heavy heart that my tenure as CEO of the City of Sydney Basketball Association will come to an end next month as I pursue another opportunity. I have absolutely loved my time at CSBA. The community, colleagues, players and everything about this place is just so special. I came into this role from retirement of a professional basketball player and leave a much better person both professionally and personally.
We have accomplished a lot in the past 3.5+ years, from securing critical funding for a stadium renovation and new roof, starting the NBL1 program, growing our representative and community programs, streamlining our processes, signing multiple sponsors and strategic partnerships to help support basketball for generations to come and so much more.
What I am most proud of though, are the people. Watching our young athletes grow not only as players but as leaders, seeing parents, volunteers, referees and staff give their time and energy to create opportunities for others, has made my role so meaningful.
To the Board, thank you for your trust and guidance. To our staff, Mel, Ceara, Lachie, Michael and Logan, your enthusiasm and dedication have been the driving force of this organisation. To our coaches, referees, players, parents and volunteers, thank you for all your support, you are the heartbeat of CSBA.
While I may be stepping away from my role, I will always be part of this community. I’m proud of what we have built and excited for what the future holds for CSBA.
Sincerely,
Ben Madgen
